Now beginning our 29th year,
the Culinary Historians of Boston is the oldest circle of culinary historians
in the US. Our members are academics, chefs, writers, food professionals, and hobby cooks,
as well as students of cuisine, women's studies, history (ancient, medieval, and modern),
agriculture, and politics.
Our monthly speaker series is always open to the public. The second talk of Fall '09 is Wed. Oct. 21 at the Schlesinger Library at 6 p.m. with Betty Fussell on her new book, Raising Steaks: The life and Times of American Beef. Note also October 24 Culinary History Symposium at the Enfield [NH] Shaker Museum. Our annual banquet, for members and guests, was at Mitton House of Newbury College, Sunday, May 17 on"American Coastal Tavern Meals of the 18th Century."
